Understanding the interesting naming trends for girls

An interesting trend that has been noticed in the last few years is the soaring popularity of the name that starts with the alphabet ‘E’, especially for the girl child. More than 18% of the 50 top girls’ names started with E in the year 2013.
Besides the usual favorites like Emilia and Elizabeth, new popular names have been added such as Elsa and Evie, however, Elsie is undoubtedly a real success story. Back in 1996, this name was also obsolete and with rankings of 823, but with time, it soared to 47th place and the meteoric rise is said not to display any kinds of slowing down in popularity.
An effective way towards predicting names that are increasing in popularity is to have a look at the entries that appeared in first time top 100 list of last year. 2014 saw the arrival for three new names which are Victoria, Beatrice and Darcy. The names that are finally looked in top 100 and created sensation in between 2012 to 2013 included the likes of Willow (from 69 to 54); Ivy (from 88 to 66) and Violet (from 100 to 78).

Understanding popular naming trends for boys

The popularity trends, in regards to boys’ names is said to be somewhat less fluid and fluctuates than that of girls’ names. Hence, one can expect to view top 10 to be relatively unchanged right from 2013 to 2014. The traditional choices such as Harry, Jack and Oliver still dominate and remain unchallenged to this date.

One can easily understand that these names do evoke certain images of sophistication and elegance of several cities such as Prague, Vienna and Berlin, along with their retro vibes with the resurgence of the all time Victorian favorites like Arthur, Charles and Alfred.
The remaining Central European names which are said to enjoy increase in popularity by association. As a matter of fact, the trend could be seen to be in effect with the European stalwart Ernest and Otto having risen dramatically and Rudy, Emil and Maximilian making steady gains in the last couple of years. With the popular and attractive names in hand, one can select a good name for the new born baby in 2015, which would be modern and attractive as well.
